Kenyan Students Visit Embassy in Seoul to Explore Study Opportunities
A group of Kenyan students has visited the Kenyan Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, to explore opportunities for higher education and international study pathways.
The students, from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Maryhill Girls High School, held discussions with embassy officials on available options for foreign learners in South Korea. These included scholarship schemes, academic exchange programmes and admission requirements for universities.
The visit was organised in partnership with the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) and represents the third time the school has participated in the initiative. The programme aims to expose students to different academic systems and cultural settings while supporting leadership development and personal growth.
Embassy officials highlighted South Korea’s strengths in research and technology-focused education, noting its growing appeal among Kenyan students seeking global academic experience. They also advised the students on the importance of discipline and adaptability when studying in a foreign environment.
The officials further emphasised the role of educational exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and South Korea. They described youth programmes as an important means of building long-term cooperation and shared capacity between the two countries.
The students expressed interest in pursuing studies in fields such as medicine, engineering and international relations. They said their experience in South Korea had broadened their understanding of global education opportunities and career possibilities.
Embassy representatives commended the initiative and reaffirmed their support for programmes that promote academic exchange and empower young Kenyans. They also noted that such opportunities can equip students with skills and perspectives that contribute to national development upon their return.
