Uasin Gishu Couple Overjoyed as Australia-Based Children Gift Them New Car
Children living in Australia presented their parents with a new car during a thanksgiving ceremony at their home in Uasin Gishu County.
Ishmael Kiptoo and his wife, Judith, received the vehicle at their rural residence in Maji Mingi, Uswo, in Karuna/Meibeki Ward. The car was decorated with balloons and delivered in a procession accompanied by boda boda riders. Family members gathered at the home to bless the vehicle, reflecting the cultural and spiritual importance of the occasion.
Judith, sitting in the car for the first time, thanked her children and expressed her happiness at receiving the gift while she could still use and enjoy it. The presentation was intended as recognition of the couple’s years of care, guidance, and support.
Photos and videos from the event circulated widely on social media, where many Kenyans shared messages of congratulations. Some observers noted that similar gestures are becoming more common in parts of the Rift Valley, highlighting traditions of generosity and respect for parents.
The event reflects a broader pattern in Kenya, where young people working abroad support their families through significant gifts. In a comparable case, content creator Manzi wa Meru recently built a house for his parents to mark his 24th birthday.
