Azimio Names Kalonzo Party Leader, Caroli Omondi Secretary General
The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has undergone a major leadership reshuffle, with key appointments made to strengthen its political strategy ahead of future national engagements.
The restructuring was approved during a joint meeting of the Azimio Council and the National Executive Committee on 2 February, chaired by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta. The changes, which have been communicated to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, mark a significant shift in the coalition’s internal organisation and public positioning.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been appointed Party Leader, reflecting Azimio's aim to consolidate its leadership around a prominent political figure. Musyoka’s experience in coalition-building and national politics is seen as key to guiding the alliance forward.
Alongside him, Suba MP Caroli Omondi takes on the role of Secretary General, while former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia is named Executive Director, responsible for overseeing daily operations and institutional strengthening. In a statement, the coalition described the reshuffle as a response to changing political circumstances, intended to enhance cohesion and effectiveness within the alliance.
