Motorists Slam NTSA Over Slow Issuance of Reflective Number Plates

Motorists are growing increasingly frustrated with delays in the issuance of reflective number plates by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), with many applicants waiting months despite receiving confirmation of approval.

In recent weeks, complaints from affected individuals have surged, with several taking to social media to express their dissatisfaction. Lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso publicly condemned the NTSA on 7 January, revealing that, despite confirmation of approval, he had been waiting for over two months without receiving his plate.

His comments were echoed by others, with many reporting similar delays. Some applicants claim they have been waiting since November, while others point to broader issues, including delays in the issuance of driving licences.

Public frustration has been compounded by the NTSA's failure to respond to media requests for clarification, leading many to question the Authority’s ability to manage the process efficiently. The lack of communication from the agency has fuelled perceptions of administrative shortcomings, with some calling for reform or a complete overhaul of NTSA.

For many motorists, the delays are not just an inconvenience but a legal risk, as they remain without the necessary documentation to drive legally.
