Malava MP-Elect Ndakwa Pledges to Finish Ongoing Development Projects
David Ndakwa has been declared the new Member of Parliament for Malava after winning a closely contested by-election.
Ndakwa secured 21,564 votes, narrowly defeating DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, who garnered 20,210. After receiving his certificate of election, he said his priority would be to complete projects started by his predecessor, the late Malulu Injendi. He described protecting Injendi’s legacy as a key responsibility and pledged to avoid disrupting ongoing development initiatives.
He also called for unity among residents, urging them to view leadership as a temporary mandate rather than a point of division. Ndakwa invited his rivals to work with him, saying the constituency’s progress depended on collective effort.
He expressed appreciation to President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance for supporting his candidacy, and thanked his family, supporters, and UDA aspirants, among them Ryan Injendi, son of the late MP, for backing his campaign.
Ndakwa further commended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and security agencies for delivering a peaceful and credible poll.
The Malava race was part of a wider electoral exercise in 22 constituencies and wards. UDA increased its parliamentary tally with victories in Mbeere North and Banisa, as well as the Baringo senatorial by-election and several county assembly contests.
ODM won the Kasipul seat, where Boyd Were defeated Philip Aroko.
