UK-Based Kenyan Woman Gifts Father New Car in Heartfelt Gratitude
Brenda Kurgat, a Kenyan woman living in the United Kingdom, has gifted her father a car to recognise his years of work supporting their family in Uasin Gishu County.
Ms Kurgat, originally from Ruiyobei Village in Tembelio Location, said the decision was influenced by her father’s demanding routine as a farmer and transporter. Now based in Norwich, she explained that she had seen the physical strain caused by his daily use of a boda boda to move farm produce and supplies between their home and Eldoret town.
She said the vehicle was intended to reduce his workload and provide a safer, more reliable means of transport. Her father had relied on the motorcycle for many years, a task that had become increasingly difficult with age.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Ms Kurgat described a childhood shaped by resilience and sacrifice. She credited her father with consistently prioritising his children’s needs, often at personal cost. She said the gift was a gesture of appreciation rather than a display of wealth.
The presentation of the car was marked by a small celebration. Images shared on social media showed the vehicle decorated with balloons and ribbons. The posts were widely shared, with many users praising her gesture and recognising the contributions of Kenyans living abroad to support their families.
A similar example has recently been reported in Meru County, where a 24-year-old content creator presented his parents with a newly built house valued at KSh 10 million during his birthday celebrations. He said the gesture was motivated by a desire to support his family after years of hardship.
