Authorities Launch Multi-Agency Search for Two Missing Children in Komarock
Authorities are searching for two children who went missing in Komarock, Nairobi, on 13 May, with a multi-agency operation now under way.
The State Department for Children Services says the case has been recorded in the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS), allowing coordination between the National Police Service, children’s officers, local administrators and partner organisations. Photographs and personal details of the minors have been shared across child protection networks and missing persons platforms to support tracing efforts.
Officials say investigations are ongoing, with police stations handling the case working alongside child welfare agencies. Members of the public have been urged to report any useful information to the nearest police station, a children’s office, or through the National Child Helpline on 116.
In a separate incident, a six-year-old girl in Kirinyaga County was reported missing last week after CCTV footage showed her walking with an unidentified man who allegedly enticed her with cakes. The case remains under investigation.
Police have previously stated that missing child cases may arise from a range of factors, including family disputes, neglect, trafficking, defilement and online exploitation. They have warned that children are particularly vulnerable in urban areas where community supervision may be limited.
Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services Hanna Wendot Cheptumo has said there is no waiting period before reporting a missing child. She urged families to report immediately to the nearest police station, children’s services office or through helpline 116.
The government says it is strengthening its child protection response through cooperation between the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Kenya National Human Rights Commission, county governments and other welfare organisations. Measures include improved tracing systems, information sharing and psychosocial support for affected families.
Authorities have called for continued public cooperation as the search for the Komarock children continues, saying timely information can help in their safe recovery.
