Jacque Maribe Lands Government Position After High-Profile Murder Trial

Martin Olage Mar 12, 2024

Former Citizen TV presenter Jacque Maribe has been appointed head of communications at the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management.

This marks a significant turn of events following her prolonged legal battle over her alleged involvement in the murder of Monica Kimani alongside her fiancé Joseph Irungu, also known as Jowie. The decision to appoint Maribe has been made by the Public Service Commission rather than directly by Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria. Kuria emphasizes that Maribe's appointment aligns with the values of Ruto's administration, underlining its commitment to justice and equal opportunities.

"It is the right thing to do for Jacque as the President Ruto administration is keen to demonstrate that there is nothing like life in ashes, this is a country of justice, equal opportunities and one that will lend you a hand to rise from your ruins," says Mr Kuria.

Maribe, who expressed gratitude to God for what she perceives as truth prevailing and setting her free, views her new role as a potential manifestation of divine intervention in her life. This appointment comes shortly after her acquittal from murder charges, attributed to insufficient evidence while Irungu awaits sentencing following two postponements. Throughout the trial, Maribe maintained her innocence, alleging a careless investigation and manipulation of the charge sheet by the prosecution.

She graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in journalism and media studies. Dennis Itumbi has responded to Maribe's appointment, congratulated her and extended his good wishes for her future endeavours. Itumbi encourages her to persist in fighting for what she believes is right, recognizing her potential to serve the country with a profound understanding of injustices inflicted upon the innocent.

Itumbi has also voiced his gratitude to Kuria for his support of a generation and urges him to continue acts of kindness and generosity. Maribe's father, Maribe Mwangi, expresses relief and thanks God for the journey, which he describes as emotionally and financially taxing for the family.

"Thank you for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand"
