Yesterday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his political rival Ndindi Nyoro surprised the public by showcasing political camaraderie at a Harambee event in Kigumo, Murang'a County.

The once contentious relationship between these leaders seemed to thaw as they exchanged pleasantries and emphasized the importance of unity in the region. Mr Gachagua, in his speech, dismissed the immature succession debate with Kiharu MP Nyoro. He highlighted his extensive experience in politics, having worked alongside former Presidents Moi, Kibaki, and Kenyatta. He called for an end to divisive dialogue and stressed the need for unity and support for President Ruto's administration.

In response to previous tensions surrounding his potential replacement as Ruto's running mate in the 2027 elections, the Deputy President has now expressed his readiness to mentor young leaders for future leadership roles. He promised a smooth transition of leadership, criticizing what he saw as President Kenyatta's abrupt departure without proper succession planning. During his address, Nyoro pledged unwavering support for both Gachagua and President Ruto, indicating a shift towards cooperation and collaboration within the region's political landscape.
