Martin Olage Nov 30, 2023

Seasonal job opportunities are available in the UK for graduates of the National Youth Service with a background in agriculture.

UK farmers are actively searching for skilled labour from NYS graduates to fulfil their workforce requirements. Esteemed alumni are being personally notified about these employment prospects in the UK, focusing on graduates with agricultural qualifications. Successful applicants will be offered positions in the horticulture industry within the United Kingdom.

Interested individuals must complete a Google form with their information before Friday, December 1, 2023. According to the NYS Employment Liaison office, those chosen will be stationed in the fruit and vegetable industry for around six months, from February 2024 forward. The Kenya High Commissioner to the UK delivered the innovative Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS) to NYS.

The National Youth Service has partnered with authorized recruiter HOPs Labour Solutions based in the United Kingdom to handle the hiring procedure. To fulfil the criteria of the agreement, individuals must reside in the UK for half a year before departing. Moreover, in order to proceed with the process, interested individuals should be prepared to cover the following expenses: Sh6,550 for passport processing, Sh192,500 for a direct return ticket, Sh45,325 for the visa application, and Sh30,000 for a sustainability fund to support living expenses until they receive their first paycheck.

Please be aware that the prices given are an estimate. It is crucial for candidates to have a strong drive and passion for agriculture, be in good health and physical shape, and be able to attend the briefing and interviews at the NYS Yatta Field Unit on December 7, 2023.
