President Ruto Advocates for Tough Decisions for a Better Kenya

President William Ruto has emphasized the importance of making challenging decisions for the betterment of the nation.

Delivering remarks at the Edge Convention Centre on Thursday, President Ruto acknowledged that garnering public approval for each decision is not always attainable. He emphasized that advancing the long-term welfare of citizens is his government's utmost priority, motivating top officials to give precedence to options that advance national interests. Additionally, the President affirmed his unyielding determination to pursue bold and transformative measures, bypassing the temptation of readily favourable alternatives.

While acknowledging the difficulty of this approach, Ruto highlighted the transformative impact it could have on the nation. To expedite the success and address shortcomings, he underlined the importance of consistently evaluating the progress of the government. As such, Ruto entreated that Cabinet Secretaries converge in unison towards delivering on the pledges declared during the campaign. He implored them to spare the unbeneficial blame and instead focus on finding solutions collectively.

As Kenya Kwanza's inaugural year in power draws to a conclusion, the Cabinet is slated to gather for a meeting to ponder its achievements. This retreat occurs amidst apprehensions regarding the escalating cost of living and burdensome taxation. Meanwhile, the opposition has stated their intention to dismiss the National Dialogue Committee's report unless it adequately tackles this concern. Led jointly by Kimani Ichung'wah and Kalonzo Musyoka, the committee has assembled at Stoni Athi Resort in Machakos County to finalize their report. Nevertheless, doubts are mounting regarding the likelihood of finding a common ground.

The Azimio leaders have underscored the urgency of scrapping the Finance Act 2023 to relieve the financial strain on Kenyans. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has continued to acknowledge the significance of frequent gatherings to evaluate the government's advancements. He views these meetings as a chance to share insights and suggestions for enhancing service provision.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has announced that the government plans to hold an annual caucus and engage in consultations to foster the sharing of diverse and innovative ideas.
