Ruto: I Understood the 'Deep State' and Scuttled Their Rigging Plans

Martin Olage Aug 05, 2023

President William Ruto now claims that he was aware of the 'deep state' in the previous government and that there was no possibility of him losing the 2022 presidential election.

During a Saturday visit to Kiburu residents in Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga County, Ruto said he had warned the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition about his knowledge of the Jubilee government's activities including plans to manipulate the election in favour of his opponent Raila Odinga. However, he was able to stop these plans due to his inside knowledge of the 'deep state'. In support of this, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alleged that Sagana State Lodge was used by the previous government to plan how to harass and obstruct Ruto in a bid to keep him away from the presidency.

"I told them there is no deep state that I do not understand. There is no system that I personally don't understand. I even knew that they were planning to steal our votes and I told them that their mission was impossible. They tried and failed miserably. Now they think they can push us until they have a share in the government. Whose government do they want to join?" Dr Ruto said.

Regarding the opposition, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi claimed they are in disarray and trying to covertly infiltrate the government. On Sunday, August 6th, Dr Ruto will host an interdenominational prayer service at Sagana State Lodge and then lead an engagement with leaders from the Mt. Kenya region. The President's upcoming week encompasses numerous events and initiatives.

On Monday, he will be commissioning road upgrades and water projects in Mukurwe-ini and Tetu respectively, as well as opening a new bus park terminus in Nyeri town. The following day, he will be opening a new KCC plant in Kiganjo and holding a conference with regional leaders at Sagana State Lodge. On Wednesday, he will be opening a new hospital in Naromoru and officiating at the groundbreaking of an affordable housing project in Kirinyaga County. He will conclude his tour by witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony of another affordable housing project in Kiambu County before returning to State House in Nairobi.
