CS, MP Embroiled in Tussle Over Palatial Karen Home
Police on Friday, June 17, intervened in a high-profile dispute between a recently elected Member of Parliament and a Cabinet Secretary.
The MP alleged that the CS sitting in President William Ruto's administration has forcefully taken up residence in their Ksh120 million mansion in Karen, Nairobi County. The MP's wife, Mary Mureu, spoke to the media and stated that she was shocked when she sent a contractor to do some cleaning only for them to find a heavy security team on the premises of her house.
The contractor reported being mistreated and denied entry to the property, which Mutheu claims has been occupied by the Cabinet Secretary without permission. Mutheu contends that the CS offered her Sh90 million to buy the house, but she declined the offer because she believed the property was worth Ksh120 million.
“I travelled to the US for my daughter's graduation and when I came back on Wednesday, I brought my people to clean the house and mow the lawn…to my shock as you are, I found it occupied," she told Citizen TV on Friday night
Mureu reported the incident to the police and has since considered taking legal action against the CS for trespassing and damages. The aggrieved landlord declared to the media that the CS was out of the country when the conflict ensued. The unnamed CS has not made any statements in response to the claims levelled against her.
