Mackenzie Will Be in Jail for a Lifetime - CS Kithure Kindiki
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has weighed in on the punishment that awaits the controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie.
Kindiki declares that Mackenzie's offence amounts to a life sentence in prison. At Sunday's Church Service, the CS expressed that Mackenzie would never be released from jail. He went on to criticize the Judiciary for freeing criminals in the name of upholding fundamental rights. He further affirmed that the preacher would be returned to jail even if the court sets him free.
"Mackenzie will not get out of jail, he will age in there. We pray that God gives him more years to see Kenya's security prosper. He will not get out of jail. Mackenzie will meet the wrath of God after jail," he said.
Mackenzie of Good News International Church stands accused of brainwashing his followers to starve to death in order to meet Jesus. The CS says that Mackenzie has killed more people than terrorists in the last decade. He also notes that police would focus on suspects based on evidence, not religion. The third stage of exhuming bodies from the Shakahola forest in Kilifi County is scheduled to recommence on Monday, June 5 after being on hold for 2 weeks.
Last week, Kindiki affirmed to Kenyans that the government will continue to take action against rogue religious leaders. However, he made it clear that he would not restrict anyone's right to practice their faith. The CS also cautioned the outlawed Mungiki sect and its supporters that the government would not permit its revival in Kenya.
