Sabina Chege Slams Uhuru, Tells Him to Quit Politics

Martin Olage May 21, 2023

Acting Jubilee party leader Sabina Chege has said that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was legally dislodged from the party leader position.

Internal strife in the party is between two factions, one led by former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, and the other by EALA MP Kanini Kega. Speaking during a funeral service in Sirisia Constituency on Saturday, Chege accused Uhuru of playing politics rather than guiding the incumbent leaders. She noted that the former President should have abandoned politics six months after Ruto assumed office.

“Nobody chased Uhuru Kenyatta from being the Jubilee party boss, we followed the law to remove him,” she said.

The acting SG Kanini Kega accused the former head of state of using his position to harass others. He termed Sirisia MP John Waluke’s graft case as political. Chege urged Uhuru to concentrate on promoting peace within the country just as he does across the continent.

Her statement resounded comments by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who urged Uhuru to quit politics and focus on his peacekeeping missions. She added that Jubilee supports Ruto's government and that they will not participate in Raila-led Protests. She stated that Uhuru handed the instruments of power to President Ruto and therefore the opposition should give Ruto time to deliver for Kenyans.
