Masked, gun-wielding thugs robbed Mwinjoyo FM studio on live air on Thursday night, disrupting the ongoing gospel show.

The thugs arrayed in pieces of clothes that acted as masks made entry through the main door, leaving the lead presenter baffled by the scene. On air was the gospel show Kigoco Live which invites guests to share life stories between enchanting tunes. The thugs were armed with guns and machetes.

Once they made entry to the show, the robbers ordered the presenters to lie down. They then proceeded with the theft as the station's official Facebook page captured the whole incident. One of the presenters who endured the ordeal reported that the attack lasted 30 minutes.

"There were eight of us in the studio for Thursday's Kigoco show, which runs from 8pm to 12am. As we were finishing the show, four intruders came into the studio and took over, ordering us to lie on the floor," he said.

The presenter said that the intruders made away with their phones and an unknown amount of money. He added that the thugs did not steal any studio gear, however, they destroyed the CCTV cameras immediately after noticing their presence.

The radio station confirmed that they have reported the attack to the Kiamaina police station which has launched an investigation of the culprits.

"Seeing these men in the studio put us in a state of terror. We have since reported the attack to the Kiamaina police station and the matter is now with the police," the presenter described.
