Lands CAS Kimani Ngunjiri Allegedly Shoots a Man During a Confrontation over Land
Police in Nakuru have launched investigations into an incident where Lands Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Kimani Ngunjiri allegedly shot a man during a confrontation over disputed land in Bahati on Monday.
Ngunjiri, the former MP for Bahati Constituency, is reported to have fired three times during the confrontation, leaving a man with a gunshot wound on the hand.
It is alleged that the politician stormed Solai Ndungiri farm in Subukia at around 6 a.m with a tractor and destroyed a fence erected on land adjacent to his.
Susan Murugi said the former MP claimed he was the owner of her half-acre parcel, leading to the confrontation.
"I raised an alarm attracting the attention of other residents who came to find out but unfortunately the CAS started shooting," said Murugi.
Murugi’s son William Ndung’u said he rushed to the scene and confronted Ngujiri for manhandling his mother.
"Ngunjiri aimed his firearm at me and discharged a bullet. The bullet missed me and got another resident," said Ndung'u.
A video taken by one of the residents shows a man believed to be Ngunjiri confronting Murugi before firing a couple of times.
Nakuru County Commander Zachary Kimani, Nakuru North OCPD Samson Andanje and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene.
