Judiciary Dispels Reports on Resignation of Supreme Court Judges

John Wanjohi Mar 03, 2023

The Judiciary has dismissed as fake reports that some Supreme Court judges are considering resigning due to 'dictatorship.'

The report by an online publication quoted “a reliable source from the Supreme Court” alleging that a section of the seven-judge bench wants to quit.

"Fake news alert," the Judiciary said in a Twitter post in response to the article.

This is the second time in five months that the Judiciary has come out to dispel claims of resignation in the country’s highest court.

This was after reports alleging that two Supreme Court judges had tendered resignation letters to the Judicial Service Commission following the court's decision to uphold the election of President Ruto.

"No Judge of the Supreme Court has written a resignation letter, as claimed in a section of media because there is no reason to do so. The Court is working in harmony as a cohesive unit," the Judiciary said in a statement.
