Nairobi Man Dies After Setting Himself and 2.5-Year-Old Daughter on Fire in a Car
Police in Nairobi are investigating an incident where a man died after setting himself on fire in a car together with his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
Denis Musyoka, 34, had requested his estranged wife Elizabeth to bring their daughter to his house in Nasra Estate, Njiru, Nairobi on Sunday so that they can bond, according to a police report.
When Elizabeth arrived at his house, Musyoka allegedly entered her car and pulled out a knife before stabbing her multiple times in the neck.
“The lady managed to jump out of the vehicle and was rescued by good Samaritans. The deceased then set himself on fire in the said vehicle together with her daughter, 2.5 yrs,” reads the police report.
Elizabeth and her daughter were both rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital, where she is in stable condition. The minor has since been transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for specialized treatment and is said to be in a critical condition.
Musyoka's body was moved to the Mama Lucy Hospital morgue while police recovered a knife and a partly-burnt five-liter jerry can suspected to have contained petrol at the scene.
