Baringo Senator Gideon Moi Loses His Seat to UDA Candidate William Cheptumo
Baringo Senator Gideon Moi’s bid to defend his seat has flopped.
Moi, who contested under the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party, suffered defeat at the hands of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate William Cheptumo.
The two-term Senator garnered 71,480 votes against Cheptumo’s 141,777, according to Nation.
In the Baringo gubernatorial race, former governor Benjamin Cheboi (UDA) made a comeback after trouncing incumbent Stanley Kiptis (independent) and Moses Lessonet (independent).
Cheboi got 137,486 votes ahead of Lessonet (60,879 votes) and Kiptis with 17,646.
