Senior Counsel Paul Muite Denies Claims He is Ailing from Cancer

John Wanjohi Jul 15, 2022

Senior counsel Paul Muite has denied speculative reports on social media that he is ailing from cancer.

This comes after a photo of a seemingly frail-looking Muite posing next to an unidentified woman went viral online on Thursday, with some users claiming that the distinguished attorney was battling cancer.

But through Twitter on Friday, the lawyer clarified that he has deliberately shed off a lot of weight to keep his sugar levels in control, adding that he even jogs in the morning now.

Muite, who is the leader of Safina Party, added that he is very fit and has never been in better shape in his life.

“Reports on social media that I am sick with cancer are not true. Given my age, I have had to shed off weight on purpose to keep sugar levels where they should be otherwise I have never felt better; enjoyed 1 & 1/2 hrs jogging in Ngong forest this morning,” he wrote.

Muite, 77, was at the forefront of Kenya's second liberation struggle during the 1990s to remove the single-party dictatorship established by the Kenya African National Union in 1982. He previously represented Kabete Constituency in the National Assembly for several terms.
