"Maliza Uende": Raila Hits Back at Ruto over Jacaranda Grounds Chaos

John Wanjohi Jun 19, 2022

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga has hit back at Deputy President William Ruto for linking him to the chaos witnessed during his rally at Jacaranda grounds in Nairobi on Sunday.

On Sunday, police were forced to lob tear gas canisters after supporters of Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja alliances clashed ahead of Ruto’s planned rally at Jacaranda grounds.

Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency on a UDA party ticket, described Odinga as the “lord of violence”, accusing him of hiring jobless youths to cause mayhem during his meeting.

“Mr Kitendawili, the lord of violence, has done it again: Hired innocent, desperate & jobless young people, victims of his sabotage of the big4 jobs plan, to shed innocent blood in his eternal quest for power. What a shame on father’s day Mr father of violence. Freedom is coming Aug 9th,” Ruto wrote on his official Twitter page.

But in a quick rejoinder, Odinga took a swing at his main competitor in the August 9th elections, saying that the deputy president’s habit of blaming everyone for everything that befalls him has become untenable.

Odinga, who is giving his fifth try at the presidency, further pointed out that the Kenyan electorate is now woke and will not be hoodwinked by Ruto's brand of politics that is premised on seeking sympathy votes.

"Mr. Six months, for how long will you blame everyone for everything that befalls you. It’s not okay to be rudderless, clueless, and plan-less. This country is slowly overcoming fraudsters and shortcuts that define your politics. Maliza uende. There is no room for sympathy votes!" Raila posted via Twitter.
