Two Men Jailed for Life for Mugging a Pedestrian in Nairobi
Two young men have been slapped with a life sentence after they were found guilty of robbing a pedestrian in Nairobi two years ago.
Humprey Minyata Muhambe, 24, and Timothy Jahani Muzami, 28, were captured on a CCTV camera committing the offense on June 25th, 2020, along Rosewood Avenue in Nairobi’s Kilimani area while armed with a pistol and knife,
The two were later arrested and charged for violently robbing one Paul Sewe Omanyi of computers and other accessories all valued at more than Sh396,000.
Senior Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul while sentencing the two on Thursday said she considered that such crime has increased, adding that the sentence should serve as a deterrent to young men.
The magistrate added that the two were not remorseful and that the pistol they used to commit the offense was never recovered by the police.
"I have considered that such crimes are rampant nowadays and the weapon used by the accused persons to rob the complainant was never recovered. It is still out there committing similar offenses," the magistrate noted.
