"Boss, I’m Just a Phone Call Away": Ruto Responds to President Uhuru

John Wanjohi May 02, 2022

Deputy President William Ruto has responded to President Kenyatta after he accused him of abandoning his work to focus on 2022 campaigns.

Uhuru, who spoke during the 57th Labor Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, claimed that Ruto has resorted to inciting Kenyans against him and the Jubilee administration over the high cost of living and the recent fuel crisis.

He wondered why Ruto could not resign to allow him to appoint another deputy president who is ready to help in solving the country’s problems.

“Instead of helping me end the situation you are all over in the market places inciting people to ask me about the situation. Why didn’t you then resign and leave me to search for a person who could help me?” the president posed.

He insisted that the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine were to blame for the high cost of living and the fuel shortage.

“Let’s tell one another the truth. You know these problems were not brought by us, the Covid-19 pandemic and the high fuel prices. Where were you when I needed you most?” Kenyatta added.

“That’s why I thank that old man (Raila). Even if he had his own issues, I thank him because he came to my aid.”

But in response, Ruto told President Kenyatta that people he assigned his responsibilities have failed him miserably, saying they wasted his second term.

“Sorry my Boss. I feel your pain. Those you assigned my responsibilities & 'project' mzee have let you down miserably. They bangled our Big 4, killed our party & wasted your 2nd term. Wao ni bure kabisa,” Ruto wrote on his Twitter handle.

He added: “Boss, am available. Just a phone call away. Sadly last cabinet was 2yrs ago. Yule No. 2.”
