Senior Principal Magistrate Caught Defiling an Underage Girl in a Bomet Lodging
Police in Bomet county are holding a 51-year-old magistrate who was caught defiling a 17-year-old minor on Thursday night.
James Ongondo, a Senior Principal Magistrate stationed at Kehancha law courts in Migori County, was busted at a hotel room in Bomet while defiling the teenager.
The magistrate reportedly booked a room at around 8:00 pm at Sharies Bar and Restaurant, where he had been imbibing drinks, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
At around 11:00 pm, the suspect was joined by the girl at the bar and the two left for Room 102. Detectives based at Sotik police station got wind of the incident and rushed to the hotel where they rescued the minor and apprehended the suspect.
The officers also recovered crucial exhibits, including stained bedsheets which shall be subjected to forensic analysis at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory for DNA examination and other necessary tests.
Both the suspect and the victim were rushed to a local hospital for the necessary medical examination. The victim was later booked as a child in need of care and protection.
The magistrate is currently in custody pending arraignment to face defilement charges.
