I Invested Millions in UDA Party But Ruto Betrayed Me, Kirinyaga Woman Rep. Wangui Ngirici Laments
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici says she regrets using her money to popularize the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Kirinyaga.
Ngirici, who is eyeing the Kirinyaga governor’s seat, lamented that the Deputy President William Ruto-led party betrayed her despite investing heavily in it.
She claimed that her husband sold their family house worth millions of shillings to sell the UDA in Kirinyaga, but Ruto and party officials betrayed her by openly supporting her rival Governor Anne Waiguru.
Ngirici ditched the UDA party in December last year and announced she will contest for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial position as an independent candidate.
Speaking at a campaign meeting in Kiamanyeki, Mwea constituency, Ngirici noted that her efforts and sacrifices were never appreciated, saying she was stripped of her Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) chairperson post and ejected from various committees in the National Assembly for supporting Ruto, who later betrayed her.
“I sacrificed a lot for the UDA party but I was later shortchanged,” Ngirici said.
“Mambo ya kuchagua chama tuwache, let us think about individuals who will represent our interests.”
She will faceoff with Waiguru (UDA), former Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi (TSP), incumbent senator Charles Kibiru and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, among other candidates.
