DCI Summons Businessman Stanley Livondo over President Kenyatta Assassination Claims
Nairobi businessman Stanley Livondo on Monday recorded a statement with the police over President Kenyatta’s assassination claims.
Livondo was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to shed light on the allegations he made during Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s thanksgiving event at Thika Stadium on Saturday.
The businessman alleged that an individual whom he did not name attempted to assassinate President Kenyatta on two occasions by targeting the plane carrying him.
“You have a friend, who attempted to crash your plane twice, will you forgive him? The first attempt was when President Uhuru Kenyatta was leaving Kisumu and the second attempt was when he was going to the US through Dubai and he had to make a detour,” Livondo claimed.
Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso said Livondo was summoned to help detectives in investigations.
On Sunday, MP Kuria distanced himself from the allegations and urged the DCI to arrest Livondo over the reckless utterances.
“As the convenor of the thanksgiving prayer meeting in Thika, I may not be responsible for what speakers said but it was my meeting and I have to take responsibility. I have today requested DCI boss George Kinoti to arrest Stanley Livondo following his reckless statement,” Kuria said in a statement.
