Kalonzo, Gideon Moi Walk Out of Mudavadi’s Meeting as Ruto Arrives

There was drama at Bomas of Kenya on Sunday after One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi walked out of Musalia Mudavadi’s event.

Musyoka, Moi, and presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi left the event in a huff after leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto made their way into the hall.

Shortly after they left, Ruto made a grand entry to the auditorium hosting ANC’s National Delegates Conference where Midavadi was endorsed as a presidential candidate and given the green light to form coalitions with other parties ahead of the August elections.

Musyoka and Moi appear to have been irked by Mudavadi’s failure to inform them that Ruto had been invited to the meeting.

Ruto, who was accompanied by several UDA-allied leaders including governors, MPs and senators, announced a new partnership with Mudavadi, saying the two will work together in the forthcoming elections. Mudavadi was one of the four OKA principals alongside Musyoka, Moi, and former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

OKA spokesperson Fredrick Okango, through a tweet, said they could not condone Mudavadi’s political games, adding that they were moving to ‘higher grounds’.

“OKA has today walked out of Mudavadi's 'earthquake' meeting. We are moving to higher grounds where Kenyans are safer. It is a wrap with nasty political games,” wrote Okango.

“We would like to wish Mudavadi the best of luck as he joins his other partners. There is no room for damages,” the tweet added.
