Nairobi Man Breaks His Limbs After Jumping from Third Floor Apartment to Avoid Arrest

John Wanjohi Sep 29, 2021

A suspect is nursing serious injuries at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital after he jumped from a high-rise apartment in Embakasi, Nairobi in a bid to evade arrest.

Police went to Didmus Mong'are's house on Monday seeking to arrest him over allegations of obtaining money by false pretenses.

The man leapt from his kitchen balcony at Amani Apartments and landed on the ground, breaking his limbs, according to a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He was trying to run away from police officers Rose Mwanzia and Geoffrey Koros, who had stormed his house at 10:00 am. To trick the officers, Mong’are emerged from his bedroom naked, prompting the officers to allow him time to dress up.

“But as fate would have it, after putting on a pair of denim pants and a checked shirt, Mong’are mischievously dashed to the kitchen and flew from the balcony!” the report reads.

Mong’are, who jumped from the third floor, received first aid from the officers before he was rushed to the hospital for specialized attention.

“As Mong’are contends with his current condition, the Embakasi based officers are wishing him quick recovery as they prepare his file so that he can answer to charges of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to section 313 of the Penal code,” DCI added.
