Seven Kenyans Arrested for Stealing and Illegally Administering COVID-19 Vaccines
Police are holding seven people for allegedly stealing COVID-19 vaccines and engaging in illegal vaccination.
Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache said the seven suspects, who include a doctor, were arrested over an incident where some politicians in Murang’a colluded with health workers to steal and illegally administer COVID-19 jabs in a health camp, contrary to laid down procedures.
“DCI is still on the lookout for the principal persons who took part in the illegal act,” Mochache said.
Mochache urged Kenyans to be vigilant and report any illegal vaccination activities to the Health Ministry through hotline number 719.
She spoke on Thursday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where she received 450,000 COVID-19 vaccines donated to Kenya by the Canadian government.
The official expressed confidence that the government will achieve its target of inoculating 10 million Kenyans by December this year.
Kenya is expected to receive the first consignment of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine on Friday.
