Jubilee Party Top Organ Approves Pre-Election Pact with ODM

John Wanjohi Aug 17, 2021

Jubilee Party’s National Management Committee (NMC) has given the ruling party the green light to form a coalition with ODM ahead of the 2022 general election.

The governing party’s highest-ranking organ made the decision following a meeting with Jubilee Parliamentary leadership on Tuesday.

The party secretariat was given the nod to engage ODM on a possible pre-election pact as the next general election approaches.

The agreement will be premised on the existing collaboration between the two parties in Parliament, and the good working relationship of its leaders, President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

“It is noteworthy that in the last four years, while ODM has carried its mandate as the official opposition party in both the Senate and the National Assembly, the party has remained a reliable ally to Jubilee Party in the passage of all critical bills that are important for the good governance of our country,” Jubilee secretary-general Raphael Tuju said in a statement.

Jubilee will also write to the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) member parties seeking to engage them in coalition talks. OKA is made up of Wiper, Amani National Congress (ANC), Kenya African National Union (Kanu), and Ford-Kenya parties.
