Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has returned to the country after an extended trip to the United States. The two-time governor has been in the US for the past two months but details regarding his trip remain scanty, reports The Standard.

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, Governor Rasanga said he held meetings with some Kenyans living in the US during his stay there and urged them to invest in the county.

Rasanga indicated that they promised to donate medical equipment that will benefit residents of Siaya County. The equipment is expected to arrive in the country soon.

“I held meetings with some people from Siaya now living in the US and they have promised to send some equipment for the hospital,” Rasanga said.

“I asked them to bring to us investment projects that can change the lives of our people,” he added.

Rasanga’s absence during President Kenyatta’s visit to the Nyanza region at the end of May raised questions on his whereabouts. He was not present when Kenyatta launched some projects in Siaya County including Sh1.6 billion Kodiaga-Wagai-Onyinyore/Akala- Nyangweso-Muhanda road.

There were rumors that Rasanga may have traveled to the US to seek medical treatment.
