Uhuru Extends Nationwide Night Curfew for Two Months to Curb COVID-19

President Kenyatta has extended the nationwide curfew for another 60 days to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The president made the announcement during his 16th address on the COVID-19 pandemic at State House on Tuesday.

The curfew will continue to be enforced from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am daily except in the counties of Busia, Vihiga, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Bungoma, Kericho, Bomet, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa-Bay, and Migori.

The curfew hours in the 13 counties, which were declared COVID-19 hotspots earlier this month, will be observed from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am.

Kenyatta further banned all forms of physical and congressional worship, public and political gatherings, in-person meetings, and sporting activities in the COVID-19 hotspot zones.

In the rest of the country, congregational worship is allowed but in strict adherence to the one-third capacity rule and in accordance with the guidelines of the Inter-Faith Council.

Kenyatta also directed that all persons traveling to the Country must be in possession of a negative COVID-19 PCR Certificate acquired not more than 96 hours before arrival. The PCR Certificate must be validated under the Trusted Travel platform for those traveling by air.

Funerals, cremations, and other interment ceremonies must take place strictly within 96 hours of confirmation of death.
