Family Seeks Probe to Rule Out Foul Play in Former MP Jakoyo Midiwo's Sudden Death
The family of former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has called for a probe into his sudden death. His elder brother Dr. George Jalang’o, said the family wants to understand how Midiwo suddenly fell ill and died despite being fit.
“We have reported the matter to the police, who are carrying out investigations, just for us to know what really happened. It is just a matter of doing due diligence because Midiwo was fit, well, and going about his activities and therefore, we cannot understand why and how he just fell ill and died,” said Jalang’o.
Midiwo, who died at Nairobi Hospital on Monday evening, had traveled to the city to celebrate his children’s academic milestones when he suddenly fell ill and passed away.
His daughter recently graduated from a South African university while his son scored an A plain in the 2020 KCSE exam.
Reports indicate his kidneys failed before suffering a cardiac arrest at around 4:00 pm.
“For the last one year, he never complained to me of any ailment and we are actually concerned why he would have an acute kidney failure of sudden onset,” Jalang’o added.
Midiwo’s death came three days after he lost his elder sister Julia Owino, who is set to be buried on Saturday. “After we bury my elder sister, we shall be announcing the burial date for Jakoyo,” said Jalang’o.
A post-mortem has been scheduled to establish the cause of Midiwo’s death. The body is at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
