Senator Susan Kihika Slams President Uhuru for Flouting COVID-19 Protocols
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has slammed President Kenyatta for allegedly breaking COVID-19 protocols.
Kihika accused Kenyatta of holding political meetings at State House in complete disregard of the government guidelines for the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"So Uhuru bans all political meetings and public gatherings of whatever nature in the 5 counties (Nairobi included). Then hosts a political gathering and posts it on his official page for all to see? IMPUNITY & MTADO attitude stretched too far? Anyway mtado?" Kihika posted on Twitter on Saturday.
The outspoken senator was reacting to President Kenyatta’s meeting with Maasai leaders led by Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko at State House, Nairobi on Friday.
In a statement, State House said matters touching on the progress of the Maa Community, among them its rich culture, were discussed during the meeting.
“The leaders thanked the Head of State for the support the community continues to receive from the Government including several development projects in their areas,” State House said.
Other Maa leaders who attended the meeting included Devolution PS Charles Sunkuli, his Planning counterpart Saitoti Torome and Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta.
Kenyatta banned all forms of public gatherings last month as part of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The restriction runs until the end of May.
