Raila Could Join Forces with Ruto in 2022, Oburu Odinga Says
Raila Odinga’s elder brother Oburu Odinga says the ODM leader is open to working with anyone in 2022, including Deputy President William Ruto.
Oburu, an East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP, said there is nothing that stops Raila from joining forces with Ruto, stating that the two have previously worked together.
He pointed out that Raila and Ruto only differ ideologically, which does not mean they are enemies.
"Raila and William Ruto are not enemies, what is there is just the differences in approach and policies. The formations which you're seeing are just the beginning, many formations will come and if there is a need for them to come together, I don't see anything that is blocking them," Oburu said in an interview.
Oburu described Raila as the most suitable candidate to fly ODM’s flag in next year’s general elections, citing his vast political experience and the sacrifices he had made for the country.
He maintained that Odinga does not need the endorsement of President Kenyatta to win the 2022 presidential contest.
"Raila will not rely on Uhuru’s endorsement, how can he rely on his endorsement when he had won three times without Uhuru?” he posed.
Raila is yet to declare his bid for the country’s top seat in 2022 and insists that his focus at the moment is the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
