“They Will Even Snatch Your Wives”: Uhuru Warns Kenyans Against Electing Thieves
President Kenyatta has warned Kenyans against electing politicians who are crisscrossing the country making what he termed as “false promises.”
Uhuru, who spoke in Mararal, Samburu County, said Kenyans must be wary of “thieves” masquerading as leaders.
“I have been commissioning water, roads, electricity, and other projects. Some have been coming here with sweet words, asking you to vote for them. Be careful because they will even snatch your wives. Do not entertain them,” Uhuru said.
“My aim is to serve you. We are bringing clean water to Maralal, electricity, and even tackling insecurity in Samburu County. Those who want to lead you in the future should stop bothering me.”
The president thanked the Samburu County Assembly for endorsing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill, saying the initiative is meant to benefit ordinary Kenyans.
Uhuru noted that the pastoralist communities like Samburu will be among the biggest beneficiaries of the BBI once it sails through.
Last month, Kenyatta said that he is determined to leave the country in safe hands, insisting that he will not hand over to “thieves.”
“I intend to ensure that those who will take over power will not exploit and steal from Kenyans. I want the next government to foster unity among our people not divide them,” Uhuru said at a function in Nairobi.
