Uhuru Dares Ruto to Resign

John Wanjohi Feb 12, 2021

President Kenyatta has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to resign instead of fighting the government from within.

Kenyatta, who spoke in Uthiru, Nairobi on Friday, said it was hypocritical for Ruto to claim that the Jubilee administration has failed and, at the same time, take credit for its projects.

“... for a leader to keep employing doublespeak whenever he is addressing Kenyans...on one hand he is saying the government has failed and on the other hand he is saying we as a government has done this and that development,” said Kenyatta.

He continued: “That is doublespeak, you can’t be speaking of the failures of a government where you serve while at the same time outlining what you refer to as we have achieved as a government. You better resign.”

Uhuru further urged Kenyans to be wary of individuals who claim to love them but, at the same time, ask them to abuse others.

“He is lying to you that he loves you, does he love you when he tells you to abuse others?” he posed.

Kenyatta was in Uthiru to open a level 3 health center and a community water project put up by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

On Wednesday, Uhuru stated that he was determined to leave the country in safe hands, adding that he will not hand over to people he termed as “thieves.”

“I am focused on fulfilling my promises to Kenyans…some have suggested that I may cling on to power. I know I am going home next year. I do not have a problem with that,” he remarked.

He added: “My aim is to ensure that those who will assume office after me will not be thieves who will oppress Kenyans. I will only leave the office to someone Kenyans can trust and who will unite them.”
