David Murathe Claims DP Ruto's Frequent Mt. Kenya Tours Meant to Radicalize Youths, Says it May Revive Mungiki

Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe has questioned Deputy President William Ruto’s frequent visits to the Mt. Kenya region.

Murathe who spoke during an interview with KTN News wondered why Ruto only takes his so-called empowerment programs to Central Kenya and not Rift Valley—his political bedrock.

“We are warning our people because we suspect he is on a radicalization mission. When did you hear he is empowering the youth and women from his region?”

“When did you last hear the Deputy President going to Eldoret or to Nandi or the larger Rift valley to empower women or deal with boda boda riders from his backyard?” Murathe posed.

He further accused DP Ruto of using the hustler narrative to drive a wedge between the rich and poor, something that could lead to the resurgence of the dreaded Mungiki sect.

“We used to have Mungiki in the central and now when this narrative of the haves and haves not is used? That was Mungiki’s philosophy,” he added.

Murathe added that youths need meaningful economic empowerment and not handouts from DP Ruto.

“He is going back to Tharaka Nithi, he was there last weekend, he is going back to Kirinyaga, he was there a week ago, he is going back to Murang’a after people died in Kenol,” he added.
