Lobby Group wants Quack Doctor Mugo wa Wairimu Charged with Murder

A lobby group has expressed dissatisfaction with the sentence handed to infamous quack doctor James Mugo Ndichu, alias Mugo wa Wairimu.

CitizenGO, which focuses on defending life, family, and religious liberty through online petitions, said Mugo was not prosecuted for some of the most serious offenses he committed.

The lobby through a letter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head George Kinoti wants Mugo charged with the murder of pre-born babies.

“This is to demand that through your office, the rogue medic John Mugo Ndichu alias Mugo Wa Wairimu be charged afresh with the murder of pre-born babies in his illegal clinic. It is very shocking that this was not among charges against the aforementioned despite evidence of dead preborn babies in his unregistered medical premises,” read the letter by CitizenGO campaigns director Ann Kioko.

Senior Resident Magistrate Martha Nanzushi of Milimani law courts on Wednesday sentenced Mugo to three years in prison or pay a fine of Sh1.4 million.

He was found guilty of various offenses including operating a medical clinic without a license, unlawfully operating an unregistered pharmacy, operating a medical laboratory without a license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Practitioners, operating a medical clinic without registration, and practicing as an unregistered nurse.

The court ruled that the prosecution proved its case against the accused person.

Mugo was first arrested in 2015 after a video showing him raping a sedated female patient at his clinic in Githurai was exposed by a local TV station. 

The video showed a woman lying on a doctor’s examination table and a man (believed to be Mugo) undressing before climbing onto the table and raping the sedated female patient.

Mugo was charged with rape and 11 other counts including operating an illegal clinic. He was later freed on bond.
