I Will Not Apologize, MP Oscar Sudi Says over Alleged Uhuru, Mama Ngina Slur

John Wanjohi Sep 10, 2020

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi says he will not apologize over the alleged insulting remarks directed at President Uhuru and his mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Sudi has come under heavy criticism over the remarks with some leaders and women demanding he publicly apologizes to the President and the first family.

But Sudi while addressing the media on Wednesday said he has no reason to apologize, insisting that he did not insult anyone.

“Let them tell me my mistake. All mothers are the same and we respect them but I did not abuse anyone,” he said.

“I was very surprised to see so many people agitated that I referred to women’s breasts, it is even in the bible, that was not an insult.”

He further described those condemning him as looters and political brokers who have messed up the country.

“They gathered in big numbers to confront me but I want to tell them that I did not abuse anyone. They should instead apologize to me for not understanding what I said…I will apologize once people show me where I went wrong,” he added.

Sudi also clarified that he did not speak on behalf of Deputy President William Ruto as alleged by his detractors.

Following Sudi’s remarks, DP Ruto asked leaders to exercise restraint and avoid insults and bad language.

“Leaders should exercise restraint and avoid insults and bad language against other Kenyans. Unsavoury words against mothers and Head of State is a NO, NO. No amount of anger justifies the use of offensive insulting language,” Ruto tweeted.
