25 Kirinyaga MCAs Threaten to Impeach Governor Anne Waiguru
Kirinyaga MCAs have threatened to impeach Governor Anne Waiguru again over failure to pay county workers.
25 out of the county’s 33 MCAs on Friday issued a seven-day ultimatum to Governor Waiguru to disburse the unpaid salaries failure to which they will table an ouster motion against her.
Kirinyaga County Assembly Chief Whip Pius Njogu indicated that county workers have not received pay for the past two months.
Mutithi Ward Representative Peter Njomo said they have enough numbers to remove Waiguru from office.
“We are ready to impeach again because we have the numbers,” he said.
The MCAs impeached Governor Waiguru on June 9th this year but a Senate committee acquitted her, saying the allegations leveled against her were not substantiated.
23 out of 33 MCAs supported the motion to oust Waiguru on the grounds of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and gross violation of the constitution.
The motion had been filed by Mutira Ward MCA David Kinyua Wangui.
