I Should Not be Punished for My Dad’s Sins, Senator Susan Kihika Says

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has told off a section of Kenyans judging her on the account of her father’s wrongdoings.

Susan, who is the daughter of the late Kanu-era MP Kihika Kimani, took to Twitter to castigate Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) secretary-general Francis Atwoli for hosting a delegation of leaders drawn from the Luhya community, terming the meeting as tribal cocoon.

“Appears we are now retreating into tribal cocoons! Thought we were really uniting the country? The lies we tell! And btw do the Luhyas only birth men?” Senator Kihika tweeted.

But political commentator and columnist Gabriel Oguda quickly dismissed Senator Kihika, saying she should be the last person to talk about tribal cocoon as her dad was a “hatemonger.”

“Dear Susan Kihika, you should be the last person to talk about tribal cocoons. Your father was a polarizing hatemonger who made his name through the GEMA tribal grouping; formed to amass ill-gotten wealth and stifle political dissent. Don’t mistake our silence for amnesia,” Oguda tweeted.

In response to Oguda, Senator Kihika said, “Dear @gabrieloguda I refer you to: Deuteronomy 24:16 Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin. Your obsession with what my father may have done or not in regards to my posts is misplaced!”

Oguda replied by saying “thank you, Ma'am, @susankihika. I hope this settles your obsession with Raila, Gideon, Uhuru, Mudavadi, and all those other politicians you call children of dynasty. I hope you'll remember where you belong next time your Tangawizi Squad calls themselves hustlers. Won't you?”

Kihika, a former US-based attorney, was recently stripped of her Senate Majority Whip seat by the Jubilee Party.
