"30 Days Hell on Earth," Malik Obama Laments After Leaving KMTC Quarantine Facility
Malik Obama, the stepbrother of former US President Barack Obama, says he has completed a 30-day quarantine period over Covid-19.
Malik was sent into mandatory quarantine at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Nairobi after he returned to the country from the US on March 25th.
He says he was first allowed to self-quarantine at home but after a week, the Healthy Ministry recalled him and placed him under 14-day mandatory quarantine in line with the government directive requiring all persons arriving from abroad to quarantine at designated facilities at their own cost.
However, his quarantine period at KMTC was extended for two more weeks after it emerged that those isolated at the facility defied social distancing directive.
Malik, who was released from the facility last weekend, described his quarantine at KMTC as “30 days of hell on earth”.
“30 DAYS HELL ON EARTH!!!: From March 25, 2020 (on arrival from the USA): 23 Days Mandatory (Forced) Quarantine (KMTC-Nairobi) at own expense $460 (Ksh46,000), 7 Days Self-Quarantine (Home). Completed Today… KENYA…PFF!” Malik tweeted.
