Uhuru Imposes Nationwide Dusk to Dawn Curfew to Battle Covid-19
President Kenyatta has declared nationwide dusk to dawn curfew effective Friday, March 27th as part of the measures to combat the spread coronavirus.
Kenyatta, who addressed the nation from State House on Wednesday, said the restriction will run daily between 7 pm and 5 am.
Those who will be exempted from the 10-hour daily curfew include all medical professionals, all health workers, sanitation officers, administration officers, licensed pharmacies and drug stores, media personnel and Kenya Power & Lightening Company officers.
Others are food dealers, wholesalers and transporters of farm produce, supermarkets and mini-supermarkets, fuel distributors and retailers, telecommunication operators, banks and financial service providers, fire brigade and emergency response services and security companies.
Uhuru said the curfew was sanctioned by the National Security Council through Public Order Number 1 on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
During the address, Uhuru announced the country has recorded its first Covid-19 recovery, terming it a great step in the fight against the contagion.
He also said three new coronavirus cases have been confirmed, bringing the total number of infections to 28.
