7 People Who Came into Contact with Kenyan Coronavirus Patient Quarantined
Seven people believed to have come into contact with a 27-year-old Kenyan woman who was diagnosed with coronavirus on Thursday have been quarantined at Mbagathi Hospital, according to reports.
The seven are residents of Simba Drive Ole Kasasi estate in Ongata Rongai, where the patient lives. They were taken to the isolation center on Friday evening for monitoring.
On Friday, a rapid response team was sent to the area to retrace the patient’s steps and any person she might have had contact with before she was taken ill.
The lady arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from the United States on March 5th and is reported to have traveled to her rural home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County before returning to Rongai.
She felt unwell and took herself to the hospital and a test done at the National Influenza Lab in Nairobi on Thursday night confirmed she had been infected with Covid-19.
The patient is said to have traveled from Ohio, where she is a student, to Chicago from where she flew to Nairobi via London. Passengers who sat close to her in the flight have also been traced by health officials.
The government is yet to reveal her identity.
