Nairobi Police Commander Philip Ndolo has ordered the arrest of Kenyans videotaped harassing two Chinese nationals and accusing them of being infected with the coronavirus.

This comes a day after a 30-second video clip showing a group of Kenyans subjecting the foreigners to racial abuse in Kibra, Nairobi went viral on social media.

Ndolo instructed Lang’ata OCPD Gregory Mutiso to work together with Kibra Nyumba Kumi officials to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.

Reacting to the video on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Amb. Macharia Kamau condemned the incident adding that the perpetrators should face the full force of the law.

“Following the attack on Chinese nationals in Kibra, the anti-hate law should be adhered to, and the matter should urgently be referred to the Interior Ministry for appropriate action,” said Macharia.

In the video, two men are seen confronting a Chinese woman who is in the company of a male compatriot with one of them yelling “you are corona.”

“We do not have coronavirus!” the visibly agitated Chinese man shouts back.
