Supreme Court Judge Smokin Wanjala Infected with Swine Flu in India, Hospitalized

Supreme Court Justice Smokin Wanjala is presently admitted at a hospital in India after he was taken ill on Tuesday.

This was after he was infected with Swine Flu (H1N1) while attending an international judicial conference in India, Chief Justice David Maraga confirmed through Twitter on Wednesday.

“Hon. Justice Smokin Wanjala, who is in India for a Judicial Conference, is hospitalized and is undergoing treatment for the H1N1-Swine flu which also affected 6 Indian Supreme Court Judges.”

“The Judge is making great progress and maybe discharged today. Wish him a speedy recovery.,” Maraga wrote.

Other foreign delegates attending the conference are also said to have contracted the flu. Reports indicate the Indian government has set up a dispensary in the Supreme Court for vaccination.

German software giant SAP is reported to have shut down its main offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Gurgaon on Tuesday after two ailing employees caused a scare. They later tested positive for H1N1.

H1N1, whose symptoms include fever, chills, sore throat, non-productive cough, headache, coryza, myalgia, and prostration, is spread through unprotected coughs and sneezes, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
