ODM leader Raila Odinga has traveled to the United States, where he has been invited together with President Kenyatta to speak about their handshake.

Odinga left the country for the US shortly before 6 pm on Sunday, his spokesperson Dennis Onyango said in a statement to newsrooms.

Odinga and Kenyatta have been invited to the National Prayer Breakfast to be held on February 6th, 2020 in Washington, DC, where they will talk about their historic March 9th, 2018 unity pact. US President Trump and First Lady Melania will be the guests of honor for the event.

The two Kenyan leaders were invited by the US Congress’ National Prayer Breakfast co-chairs, John Moolenaar and Thomas R. Suozzi. They will speak during the International Lunch, one of the annual National Prayer Breakfast-related events that honor members of the Diplomatic Corps based in the US.

“As the keynote speakers for the lunch, we would like to ask you to share your personal journey of faith and reconciliation,” the invitation letter reads. The letter indicates that Kenyatta and Odinga will deliver their speeches at 12.30 pm.

On Tuesday, Raila is expected to hold a Roundtable meeting with African Ambassadors in Washington, DC, to brief them on the Continent’s Infrastructure and continental trade agenda. Odinga is the African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development.

Raila will later attend the African Senate Dinner hosted for Heads of State from Africa and Africa delegation by the Prayer Breakfast team.
