President Uhuru Names Kalonzo as Special Envoy to South Sudan
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been appointed as a special envoy to the Republic of South Sudan by President Kenyatta.
The appointment was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday.
The Ministry noted that Musyoka's appointment was a furtherance of Kenya’s commitment towards shared prosperity in the region.
Musyoka is expected to use his new role to steer Kenya's pursuit of lasting peace and security in Africa's youngest nation.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates Hon. Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka on his appointment and stands ready to support the Special Envoy in the delivery of his mandate,” read the statement.
His appointment follows South Sudan President Salva Kiir's two-day State visit to Kenya.
